Former French President Jacques Chirac’s corruption trial has been delayed, amidst rumours that the case may never be concluded due to a lack of evidence and Chirac’s health problems.
“The main allegation is that Chirac created scores of fictitious jobs enabling him to channel the bogus salaries to his political party, the RPR. He denies knowing this was going on,” writes the Mail Online.
We remember another former president who used that excuse. Here’s hoping rumours of Chirac’s health woes, including claims that he suffers from Alzheimer’s, are unfounded.
